Anisotropy of Several Properties in a Polycrystalline Fe-Mn-Si Based Shape Memory Alloy

چکیده
The tensile properties, 7-E transformation and shape recovery have been related to the orientation of tensile axes i.e., along rolling direction(specimen 'A') and toward 45" to the rolling direction(specimen 'B') in a cold-rolled and then annealed Fe-1SMn -10Co-SCr-3Si alloy. It is revealed that the deformation modes of the specimens 'A' and 'B' with respect to tensile axes are not the same; tensile deformation of the specimen 'A' is mainly achieved by slip, while that of the specimen 'B' is mainly governed by y -+ E transformation. The yield strengths of the specimens 'A' and 'B' are 569MPa and 745MPa, respectively. The reverse transformation temperature of the specimen 'A' is much higher than that of the specimen 'B', and the shape recovery of the specimen 'B' is much larger than that of the specimen 'A'. The differences between those properties with tensile axes are discussed in association with texture developed in a cold-rolled and then annealed Fe15Mn-1 OCo-SCr-3Si alloy.

Optical Microscope Study of the y ( FCC ) we ( HC ) Martensitic Transformation of a Fe - 16 % Mn - 9 % Cr - 5 % Si - 4 % Ni Shape Memory Alloy
The y(FCC)tt&(HC) transformation is studied by light optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy in a polycrystalline Fe-Mn-Si-Cr-Ni shape memory alloy. Thermal and stress-induced martensites are both studied to point out differences. A color etching method permitted to clearly observe morphological evolutions during the transformation and its reversion. Deformations of a golden microgr...
متن کاملThe Effect of Mn-Depleted Surface Layer on the Corrosion Resistance of Shape Memory Fe-Mn-Si-Cr Alloys
In this work, we have examined Fe-Mn-Si-Cr alloys possessing a good shape memory effect due to a high Mn content (28 wt pct). The addition of Cr (5 wt pct) was made in order to give fairly good corrosion resistance to the alloy. But we have verified that even in moderately corrosive environments, the presence of chromium does not bear any passivation. On the other hand, we have found that the a...
متن کاملExperimental Study on the Magnetomechanical Characteristics of Ni-Mn-Ga Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloy Single Crystals
Magnetic shape memory properties of Ni-Mn-Ga single crystals were characterized by measurement of stress-induced martensite reorientation under constant magnetic fields. Also magnetic field-induced strain as a function of the applied magnetic field under different constant compressive stress levels has been investigated. All the experiments were performed at room temperature in which the sample...
متن کاملEffect of a Plastic Deformation on the Magnetic Properties of the Fe - 31 . 6 % Mn - 6 . 45 % Si Shape Memory Alloy
Concerning a Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloy, it was thought of magnetic measurements to follow the evolutions with temperature of an as quenched steel before and after a 2.5% prestrain. INTRODUCTION The shape memory effect, related to the reverse E -. y transformation of a single crystal of FeMn-Si, was fist shown by Sato (1). Many works are devoted to polycrystalline Fe-Mn-Si steels (2,3). The E ...
متن کاملEffect of Amount of Deformation on the Martensitic Transformation and Shape Memory Effect in Fe-Mn-Si based Shape Memory Steel
The effect of amount of deformation on the martensitic transformation and shape memory effect in a Fe-16Mn-5Si-9Cr-4Ni alloy is studied. It is found that both 6and a'martensite are induced by deformation. With increasing amount of deformation, y+~-nx' transformation is greatly enhanced. the highest shape memory strain 3 3% is reached when the amount of deformation is about 5%.
